Program notes:  This memorial hymn for contralto, flute, and piano, uses Kirchoff's own text to honor three quilters in her family. The stitches of a quilt are likened to the course of life lived day by day.  The music threads together contrapuntal lines with sections of hymnody, symbolizing the quilt making and faith of these women.
